We all remember when Kanye West bumrushed the podium at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards during Taylor Swift's Best Female Video acceptance speech, in protest that Taylor had beat out Beyoncé. Kanye later expressed great remorse for his actions, apologizing in ALL CAPS on his Twitter page and even crying on "The Tonight Show." But post-show audio allegedly recorded that night, obtained this week by Gawker, indicates that being Kanye West means never really having to say you're sorry. (A representative from Kanye's record label did not immediately return Yahoo! Music's request for comment.)
Gawker claims the audio was secretly recorded while Kanye was dining with friends after the 2009 VMAs at the Corner Bistro in New York's West Village. In the shocking snippet, a very unapologetic Kanye (or what sounds like Kanye) slams Taylor, Pink, and even MTV. And he certainly sounds like he's talking in ALL CAPS.
WARNING: The clip below contains extremely strong language.
"When I heard Eminem's verse on the Drake s***, I went back and rewrote my s*** for two days. I canceled appointments to rewrite! I f***in' care! You know what I'm saying? And that's what I'm saying. Because I did that, Taylor Swift cannot win over Beyoncé! Because I wrote my verse in two days, Taylor Swift cannot beat Beyoncé. As long as I'm alive! And if I'm alive, kill me then! Kill me then! As long as I'm alive, you gonna have to deal with it," he rants.
Kanye also complains that he wasn't invited to perform at that year's VMAs, screaming, "What the f*** was Pink performing? Don't nobody know that song. Pink performed twice! Two songs? How the f*** Pink perform two songs and I didn't even get asked to perform 'Heartless'? 'Heartless' is the biggest song of the year! It had the most spins of the first quarter! I don't know that Pink song!"
When an unidentified woman at Kanye's table understandably asks him why he's so angry, Kanye retorts: "Because my mother [Donda West, who died from cosmetic surgery complications in 2007] got arrested for the f***in' sit-ins. My mother died for this fame s***! I moved to f***in' Hollywood chasing this s***. My mother died because of this s***. F*** MTV."
Good luck getting an invite to perform at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye.
And why do we think it's only a matter of minutes before Kanye's rant gets the techno-remix treatment, as Christian Bale's did a few years ago?
