The Rock-afire Explosion: Best Cover Band Ever

Ladies and gentlemen, music fans of all ages, shapes, and sizes...we proudly present the best cover band since ABBA copyists Bjorn Again: awesome animatronic sensations the Rock-afire Explosion.

We're not sure if they're available for weddings or bar mitzvahs, but in case they are, we're going to start randomly proposing to prospective love interests and enrolling in Hebrew lessons, just so we have an excuse to hire them.

Here's just one of the many groovy cover tunes in the Rock-afire Explosion's feelgood setlist, "Electric Feel" by MGMT:

OK, a little background here: the Rock-afire Explosion are actually a robotic/puppetic ensemble that entertained children and their deep-dish-feasting families at Showbiz Pizza Place chain restaurants from 1980 to 1991. The "band" sadly dissolved when the Showbiz Pizza franchise did, but now, like many other beloved bands of the '80s, the Rock-afire Explosion are staging a fantastic (if unlikely) comeback via the website http://starsof.com/fans.

On this site, fans of bands both flesh-and-bloody and fake-furry can make song requests and bid, eBay-style, on which modern hits they'd like to see this motley, mongrely crew of furry friends perform next. We feel the MGMT song is the best attempt; the tune seems so natural emitting from the android animals' mouths, the clip above ought to be the OFFICIAL "Electric Feel" video. But other winning songs that the Rock-afire Explosion have covered in viral videos include the White Stripes' "Conquest," Lil' Wayne's "Lollipop," and Usher's "Love In This Club."

Here are some of our favorite other Rock-afire Explosion cover videos:

Once again, go to http://starsof.com/fans to submit your own cover song request. We just might place our own bid for, say, Jeremih's "Birthday Sex," Lady Gaga's "Love Game," or maybe something by Radiohead. Whatever the song, we know it will be rockin', fiery, and explosive indeed.
