Watch Video of Jack Black, Dave Grohl, and Val Kilmer Jammin’ Out on Comedy Web Series ‘Ghost Ghirls’

By Laura Ferreiro

Imagine if Jack Black joined forces with Foo Fighters and Nirvana legend Dave Grohl and actor-musician Val Kilmer to form a supergroup. Now imagine if that group was a '70s country-rock band that died in plane crash and returned to the present day as ghosts to haunt a recording studio and resolve some unfinished business. Sound impossible? Well, Sweetriver and the Huckleberry Dogs is just such a ghoulish group.

Black, Grohl, and Kilmer lent their formidable talents to form the fictional band on the new Web comedy series "Ghost Ghirls," which is executive-produced by Black and airs on Yahoo Screen.

The hilarious series chronicles the exploits of best friends Heidi (Amanda Lund) and Angelica (Maria Blasucci), who work as paranormal investigators. When the ghostbusting duo gets called in to a recording studio to investigate a paranormal disturbance, they discover the spirits of Sweetriver and the Huckleberry Dogs – still clad in their '70s regalia – who are trapped in limbo because they haven't been able to resolve their differences and record one last unfinished song so they can be at peace.

We won't give too much away, but let's just say that the Ghost Ghirls' challenge is to get the band to reconcile and prevent them from killing each other…and dying again.

A handful of songs from the show's original soundtrack are available via iTunes, including Sweetriver and the Huckleberry Dogs '70s-style rock jams "Georgia Peach" and "Back to the Beginning."

"Ghost Ghirls," which parodies several paranormally themed TV shows that shall remain nameless, features an impressive array of guest stars in addition to the aforementioned rockers, including Molly Shannon, Jason Schwartzman, and Jason Ritter.
