After a whirlwind few days with lines around the block, Yahoo! HQ at Brazos Hall is taking a daytime break from taping bands to spending Friday setting the scene for oh, a little known band called DEPECHE MODE! Yes, we have the iconic English band performing at 10pm for our ticket holder-only event. We gave away tickets to our exclusive taping to a lucky SXSW attendee this morning, so she and the other fortunate few will have their faces melted off tonight!

  • T.I. and Pharrell at BET's Music Matters showcase at SXSW. (Hutton Supancic/Getty Images for SXSW)

Day 3 at SXSW was arguably the biggest night for hip-hop. T.I., Snoop Lion, LL Cool J and RZA had all competing shows. This was a tough call, but I was not disappointed that I rolled with the T.I. event hosted by BET Music Matters and sponsored by Yahoo! Music and ASAP. T.I. brought out some incredible unannounced special guests.

The earlier part of the day wasn’t bad either. I talked to Snoop Lion at the premiere of his new movie, Reincarnated, out today, and caught up the members of Dead Prez.

"I had actually never seen 'Jersey Shore' before I wrote this, and that's the truth," said Joseph Gordon-Levitt to me the other day at an interview during South by Southwest.

We were talking about "Don Jon" (nee "Don Jon’s Addiction"), which he wrote, directed, and starred in. The movie concerns a meathead lothario hailing from New Jersey who loves his family, the church, and his sweet ride. But his real passions are trolling cheesy nightclubs for that perfect 10 and trolling the Internet for that perfect porn video. And yes, he and his buddies tend to sport the same overgelled hair stylings and douchtastic duds favored by the Situation and company.

  • Dave Grohl & Stevie Nicks [Photo: Gary Miller/FilmMagic]The Austin music festival South By Southwest continued apace this Thursday, and while literally hundreds of artists played in every club, every storefront, even in the lobby of my hotel, the day belonged to the ambassador of rock and SXSW 2013 keynote address speaker, Mr. Dave Grohl. Playing his final concert (for now) with his supergroup Sound City Players--the allstar collective of illustrious musicians from his new labor-of-love documentary about Los Angeles's legendary Sound City recording studio--the Foo Fighters frontman hosted a massive three-and-a-half-hour jam on the Stubb's stage. Participants included John Fogerty, all of the Foo Fighters, Krist Novoselic from Nirvana, Chris Goss from Masters Of Reality, Corey Taylor of Slipknot/Stone Sour, and many, many more. "There aren't too many shows where you're going to see all these musicians on the same stage, on the same night," announced a beaming Grohl. He was correct.

Yes, even in a music-packed town like Austin, Texas, such a joyous celebration of rock 'n' roll could not be found anywhere else on Thursday night. And surely the lucky spectators who shoehorned themselves into Thursday's hottest gig--mostly either through a random SXSW ticket giveaway, or a via a contest sponsored by Citi--would not have wanted to be anywhere else. I know I didn't. So please forgive me if three of my five best moments of SXSW Thursday all took place on the same stage, at the same show. You will soon understand why.

  • Ever-engaging heartthrob Josh Duhamel talks to The Sidebar's Ben Lyons at SXSW about a few of his favorite things this week. One of the best highlights of the interview? Duhamel reveals some fun--almost forgotten--moments from his up-and-coming past, and talks about beating youthful fellow thespian Ashton Kutcher in a modeling contest.

"It was one of the funniest things I've ever been through," Duhamel laughs. "We were actually very serious about it—very Zoolander and Hansel!" You gotta hear about this, trust us!

Some of his other topics: Going whole-hog in his new flick Scenic Route--which he says he had to treat like "theater," how he almost became a dentist instead of an actor, what kind of BBQ he's eating in Austin...and, of course, the biggest thing of all, impending fatherhood with wife Fergie!

  • SXSW 2013: Five Best Shows To Catch On Friday, March 15

For anyone attending the annual South By Southwest Festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas the week of March 12, the decisions are painstaking. And Friday's array of choices may be the most daunting of all. Green Day, the Flaming Lips, AND Depeche Mode? All on the same night? Why must you torture us, SXSW???

    1) Dawes, 4pm, Radio Day Stage Austin Convention Center - Every generation should have modest folks that write and perform material with a touch of Southern California mellow in their soul. What their third album Stories Don't End coming in April tells us about Dawes's evolution remains to be heard, but the fact that Jacquire King, who's worked with Tom Waits and Norah Jones, produced their album says things could get very interesting or very adult.

    2) Green Day, 8pm, Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater - It's Green Day, folks! Maybe you're too old or maybe you're too cool or whatever, but if post-breakdown Billie Joe Armstrong isn't your taste, rest assured it's still going to
