New hip-hop duo Chiddy Bang, includingrapper Chiddy Bang and producer Xaphoon Jones, are following a path paved byother MC and DJ/producer combos: DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince,Gangstarr, and Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth.

They recently displayed their skills during a visit to the Yahoo! Music studios where they were talked about their come up and performed three songs ("Opposites Of Adults," "Sooner Or Later," and "Dream Chasin'").

The duo met during their freshman year at Philadelphia'sDrexel University, started making music, andput school on hold when they landed a record deal with EMI.

On their debut release, "Opposites Of Adults," Chiddy Bangmakes a nod to Asher Roth's "I Love College," rhyming, "Somebody tell Roth Idon't love college."

Chiddy and Xaphoon come from different music worlds. Chiddyis a traditional hip-hop head, growing up on Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, and KanyeWest. While Xaphoon was also into hip-hop coming up and started DJing in the 10thgrade, he was also a fan of rock music.

Xaphoon said their varied backgrounds actually complimenteach other well. "He's giving a brand new perspective," he said about Chiddy'sraps.

While some of their songs are introspective and have adeeper meaning, Chiddy Bang is now mainly focused on having fun.

"People should have a good time," Chiddy said. "We're bringingback this era in hip-hop. We don't take ourselves too seriously. We know how tohave fun."
