  • Portishead's Dummy will celebrate the 20th anniversary of
its release in 2014 - but the band's founder and producer Geoff Barrow
isn't interested in marking the occasion, as recent reissues by Nirvana,
Pearl Jam and U2 have done.

"I'm a musician, I want to move forward. I don't want to spend my
time thinking about that B side we never released because we're not dead
and we can still produce music," Barrow tells Rolling Stone.
But Barrow's reluctance to revisit the highly influential album goes
well beyond not wanting to look back: He has avoided talk of the album
for nearly two decades because he was turned off by its success.

"When people say it's the record of the decade or that time I never
believe it's in there particularly for the right reasons," Barrow says.
So he's looking ahead with a rare U.S. tour that kicks off at ATP's I'll
Be Your Mirror festival (which the band curated) on October 1st and
thoughts of a new album - though, as he joked, "That could be 10 years."

  • Journey guitarist Neal Schon has opened up to the Daily Beast
about his romance with Real Housewives of D.C. star Michaele Salahi.
The couple made headlines last week when it was revealed that she had
left her husband to run off with the rocker, whom she had dated prior to getting married to Tareq Salahi.

"It's like a fairy tale. It is, it really is," Schon told the Daily
Beast. "I'm very happy, very happy after waiting for her for 15 years.
Now I want to get beyond all this media hype that Tareq has put out
    there. It's really quite embarrassing."

According to Salahi, she had been texting with Schon for some time
using a secret device given to her by a friend in order to evade the
controlling influence of her husband, who she says attempting to limit
her access to the outside world. "Neal was like, 'Are we going to do
this forever?' And I said, 'No, we're not,'" Salahi told the Daily
Beast. "I began to see he really loved me. I had to begin to feel it
    completely in my soul."

  • Several reports are indicating that Van Halen have either signed with Columbia Records or are coming close to sealing a deal with the label. According to the Hollywood Reporter,
no deal has been signed just yet, but the Sony-owned company is "in the
lead" in the race to release the band's first album with original
frontman David Lee Roth since 1984. That record is expected to hit
    stores sometime next year.

    If
Van Halen does indeed sign with Columbia, it would be the first time
the band would work with a label other than Warner Bros. Records in 35
years. The group have not release a record of new material since Van Halen III, their only album with vocalist Gary Cherone, came out in March 1998.
