Patti Smith is collaborating with playwright John Logan on the screenplay for a film adaptation of her National Book Award-winning memoir Just Kids. Logan, who won the 2010 Tony Award for Best Play for Red, also has screenwriting credits for Gladiator, The Aviator, Sweeney Todd and Rango. This will be Smith's first experience writing for the screen, though she did co-write the play Cowboy Mouth with Sam Shepard.

Just Kids, the story of Smith's close friendship with the late photographer Robert Mapplethorpe in the Sixties and Seventies, has received significant critical acclaim and has spent 37 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.

Smith is a very busy woman these days. In addition to working on the Just Kids screenplay, the punk legend is also developing a second memoir, writing a mystery novel, penning several books of poetry and recording a new album to be released next year.

The body of an Insane Clown Posse fan was found in the Ohio River in western Kentucky on Sunday. Jess Waters, 24, was identified by Kentucky State Police after his corpse was recovered in the Sturgeon Island area. Waters died wearing an arm band indicating that he had been at the Gathering of the Juggalos festival in Cave-in-Rock, Illinois over the weekend.

As of yet, the circumstances of Waters death is unknown. Union County, KY, coroner Stephen Shouse told the Associated Press that he does not suspect foul play. "There was no trauma," Shouse said. "We are pending toxicology and history if we find out who he is."

Kentucky State Police are investigating the case, as well as another missing person investigation involving the Gathering of the Juggalos. "We have a lead we're working on a missing individual, but have nothing back yet," says Shouse.

Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel and several other artists may soon be able to reclaim ownership of some of their best-selling albums thanks to an obscure provision in copyright law. As it turns out, when copyright law was revised in the mid-Seventies, artists were granted "termination rights," which would give them the right to take back control of their works after 35 years as long as they applied for it two years in advance.

Albums and singles released in 1978 will be the first wave of recordings subject to this rule. Several artists, including Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Loretta Lynn, Tom Waits and Bryan Adams, have already filed to reclaim qualifying works, according to records at the United States Copyright Office.
