British rock band The Hours is hitting the road in North America to support their upcoming EP release, I Want More,
on November 11th. The upbeat track, which starts off with a twinkling
and siren-filled introduction, is optimistic and hopeful. Frontman
Antony Genn tells Rolling Stone, "'I Want More' is a song about
wanting more from this short life we live on planet Earth! It's about
wanting more than perhaps we were told we are allowed."

"I want more than just to exist for the brief time I have here on
this mortal coil," Genn explains the inspiration behind the track. "I'm
made of flesh and blood and bones and water like every other human being
that ever walked this planet... so why shouldn't I be able to
      experience the best?"

The I Want More EP will be released on November 11th, but you can download the title track "I Want More" for free here.

    • Rod Stewart has signed a deal
with Random House to pen a tell-all memoir due out next year. Stewart
says that he intends to "hold nothing back" in the book, and will be
rather explicit in writing about his prolific love life. "Forget
skeletons in the closet; this one's going to be socks and knickers under
the bed," the singer said in a statement.

      In
addition to opening up about his string of romances with various blonde
bombshells, Stewart's book is likely to touch on the various phases of
his long-running career in rock, his battle with thyroid cancer and his
      youth in North London.

    • Marv Tarplin, the Motown guitarist and songwriter behind Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, died on Friday at his home in Las Vegas at the age of 70. His cause of death has not yet been determined.

      Tarplin
began his career at Motown in the late Fifties as the guitarist in the
Primettes, a teenage girl group that later evolved into the Supremes. He
was drafted into Robinson's band, where he would go on to write the
memorable chord progression at the center of the group's classic hit
      "Tracks of My Tears."

In addition to his work with Robinson, Tarplin collaborated with Marvin Gaye
on the hits "I'll Be Doggone" and "Ain't That Peculiar." The guitarist
never stopped working with Robinson, continuing to write, record and
perform with the singer until Tarplin's retirement in 2008.

New Jersey's Gaslight Anthem paid tribute to one of their favorite bands when recording a session for iTunes. "I think Pearl Jam
is the best rock band of my generation, and to have one of their songs
be played by my own band is an honor for me," says frontman Brian
Fallon. "We chose 'State' because it's the song we felt that could've
been a Gaslight song had we had the gift of that song come to us. It's a
great song about staying faithful." You can pre-order Gaslight Anthem's
iTunes session, planned for a December 13th release, here.

    • Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel has been charged with murder,
conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm following a
lengthy interrogation by Jamaica's Major Investigation Taskforce.
According to police, Kartel and a group of other men conspired to kill
Barrington "Bossie" Burton, a 27-year-old music promoter. Burton was
murdered on July 11th while standing with friends in the Gregory Park
      area of Portmore, Jamaica.

Kartel was arrested by the Jamaican
Constabulary Force on Friday and charged with possession of a small
amount of marijuana at a hotel room in Kingston, where he was staying
while filming his reality dating show, Teacha's Pet.

      While
in custody, Kartel was brought to several of his regular haunts,
including a property in Kingston's Havendale district that was the scene
of a fire several weeks ago. The singer was detained through the
weekend in connection to an investigation of a partially burned,

    • An ex-LAPD detective who was removed from the double
investigation into the murders of rival rappers Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls is claiming
      he has proof
that Sean "Puffy" Combs and Suge Knight are to blame for
ordering the murders. In a new self-published book called Murder Rap,
the former detective, Greg Kading, alleges that the LAPD suppressed evidence,
including taped confessions from hired hitmen, and removed him from the case
just as he was on the verge of solving it.

      Sean Combs wrote
      in an email
to LA Weekly, "This story is pure fiction and
completely ridiculous." Shakur, who recorded for Knight's Death Row Records, was
gunned down in Las Vegas in September 1996; Smalls (Christopher Wallace), Combs'
friend and colleague, was shot and killed six months later in Los Angeles.

    • Filmmaker John Scheinfeld made his name directing documentaries about John
Lennon and Harry Nilsson, but he's the first to admit that it's hard to pull off
a great feature film about a famous rock star. "A lot of those movies try to do
too much," he tells Rolling Stone. "They go cradle to grave and they're
racing through scenes and they don't give dramatic moments their due. They also
feel obligated to show the artist on stage, so you're seeing concert
performances with an actor. As good as they are, they aren't the artist. We have
an image of these people in our mind, and an actor just won't match up."

With all that in mind, Scheinfeld has a big challenge in
front of him: he's been hired to write and direct Fame & Fortune,
which tells the story of Elvis
      Presley
through the eyes of his best friend Sonny West. "I want to do an
intimate drama and one of the guys happens to be Elvis," he says. "We're not
doing his full life. We're not doing everything that ever happened to him. We're

    • Click to listen to Twin Sister's 'Bad Street'

Brooklyn-based quintet Twin Sister released their first full-length album, the dreamy In Heaven,
on September 27th. Earlier this summer, the band filmed the video for
lead single "Bad Street" during a neighborhood party at singer Andrea
Estella's childhood home on Long Island. "Bad Street" is a cheerful pop
song with a funky guitar riff that creates a bright, summery vibe. Twin
Sister's keyboardist, Udbhav Gupta, tells Rolling Stone that
"Bad Street" is "sewn together from many other songs. We had the easiest
time recording it, and the video is a representation of what the song
is about - being poor, but still having fun." In Heaven is available in stores now, but you can download "Bad Street" for free here.
