John Lennon's solo career was as rich and turbulent as his years in the Beatles, a whirl of hits, adventure and emotional crisis. On the 30th anniversary of his passing and in conjunction with Rolling Stone's landmark publication of "The Lost Lennon Tapes" — Jonathan Cott's epic interview just days before Lennon's death — here are twenty tracks from the official studio albums that deserve extra limelight.

Miami — Jim Morrison, the Doors' cataclysmic, electroplastic lead singer, finally let it all hang out at a March 2nd concert in Miami, Florida, and in the outraged aftermath became the object of six arrest warrants, including one for a felony charge of "Lewd and lascivious behavior in public by exposing his private parts and by simulating masturbation and oral copulation."

The five other warrants are for misdemeanor charges on two counts of indecent exposure, two counts of open public profanity and one of public drunkenness. The total maximum sentence the 25-year-old Morrison could get would be three years and 150 days at Raiford State Penitentiary, one of the tougher state pens in the South.

And judging by local sentiment in Dade County, it's likely they'll throw the book at him. "They'd crucify him if they could, they're so worked up," said Larry Mahoney of the Miami

Michael, the first collection of unreleased Michael Jackson studio recordings to be released since his death, is the most frustrating kind of posthumous release. It's a patchwork of mostly unfinished songs, recorded over decades and tidied up after the artist's death, without a single theme or collaborator — let alone the vision of their creator — to hold them together. And critical opinions on the album have, so far, varied wildly.

In many ways Michael has more in common with later posthumous Tupac albums or the abominations stitched together by Jimi Hendrix's estate in the mid-1970s than, say, Notorious B.I.G.'s Life After Death, Janis Joplin's Pearl or Hendrix's Cry of Love — albums that were largely completed at the time of the artist's death and can be seen as logical, unintentionally final steps in their careers.

Over the past few days, details have emerged about the recordings that constitute the 10-track

Paul McCartney visited Late Night With Jimmy Fallon Thursday night and paid tribute to the origins of "Yesterday" — which was first called "Scrambled Eggs" — by performing a food-themed reinterpretation of the Beatles classic with Fallon.

McCartney was also inspired to discuss an important moment in Beatles history.

"The Ed Sullivan Show was pretty amazing," McCartney said. (The Beatles were on the show several times in 1964 and once in 1965.) "I mean, that was... I was standing there waiting to go on, going to do 'Yesterday' with a string quartet, and the guy who holds the curtains says, 'Are you nervous?' I say, 'No,' and he says, 'You should be.' "

McCartney also talked about singing the Beatles' 1965 ballad "Michelle" to First Lady Michelle Obama during his recent visit to the White House; Fallon took some time out to praise McCartney's taste in sweaters, which are showcased in the book accompanying the recent reissue of Wings' album Band On The Run.
