Gregg Allman Cancels Solo Tour Due to Health Problems

On his doctor's orders, Gregg Allman has cancelled all of his tour dates through September 14th. Allman -who received a successful liver transplant in 2010 - also yanked some dates on his European tour two months ago due to an upper respiratory condition. "His doctor hoped that with rest, he'd get better, but unfortunately the issue has persisted," his spokesperson said in a statement.  "Treatment is going to involve several days of hospitalization and four to six weeks of bed rest at home. Allman continues to recover  from his successful liver transplant and expects to return to touring in support of his highly acclaimed Low Country Blues album in the late fall."

Just over a week ago, the Allman Brothers headlined a show at New York's Beacon Theater that raised over a quarter million dollars for the American Liver Foundation and the National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable. "After my operation, I'm really just happy to be out playing," Allman told Rolling Stone last year. "I'm going to thank God every night for giving me more years to live."

Some of the cancelled dates will be rescheduled later this year.
