Indonesian Mötley Crüe fans were bilked out of an estimated $60,000
in ticket sales for a non-existent gig publicized by a fake concert
promoter. More than 1,500 people purchased tickets for about $40 each
before the scam was revealed by the Jakarta Globe, a local English-language newspaper.

After
learning of the scam, the members of Mötley Crüe issued a statement on
their website clarifying that they had no plans to perform in Jakarta or
anywhere else in Indonesia. A police investigation into the ticket scam
is underway, but Central Jakarta district police chief Lt. Col. Angesta
Romano Yoyol told the Associated Press that there are no suspects.
