Yes it's true, those of us who live inland have a profound jealousy of people who live by  the ocean. We can't imagine being to able enjoy the beach all summer without much hassle. But we do have our lakes. And when things start getting hot, we use them in droves. According to an Environmental Protection Agency lake survey, America has 124,439 lakes, so a day at the lake is in range for most Americans. Sure, we can't surf. But we can ski and tube, and we won't get stung by jellyfish, eaten by sharks, or get our hair fried by salt water.

I've just gotten our boat ready for another season on the lake, and in tribute I put together this playlist of songs by artists who have used the word lake in the name of their band. Great tunes for your day at the lake.

Arnold, Arnold, Arnold... Oh well, it shouldn't be surprising that an actor/politician would cheat on his wife, but Arnold's recent downfall was still a bit depressing for me. He's not really a great actor, or a great politician, but I liked him. He always seemed so personable, funny --  an all-around likable guy, especially with the back-story of coming to America with nothing, not even a rudimentary knowledge of the English language. But now, the few fond memories we've had of Arnold have been overshadowed. He's now joined an infamous list of has-been adulterers who have fallen from grace. Maybe he can start a support group with John Edwards, Tiger Woods and Mel Gibson? I wish him no harm, and think he should be forgiven one day if he seeks forgiveness, but for now he's on America's proverbial sh*% list and this time he might not be back.

If you're a good Scrabble player, you've probably memorized a long list of rarely used two-letter words that give you a competitive edge. Those of us who are not good Scrabble players only have a handful of two-letter words that we can recall-- to, is, it, of, in, on, an, am, so, no, go. Of these popular two-letter words, "No" is not only the most used, but also the most powerful. But if I had to choose a runner up, it would be "Go". The word "go" has many positive connotations. In its most basic form "go" means to move from one place to another, but it can also be used if you are sick of someone (Please go!), or if you're cheering someone on (Go, baby go!).
