Brothers have a special connection, and when they are raised in a musical family the results can be stunning. While developing skill on an instrument takes years of dedicated solo practice, the ability to produce great band-centered music can only be developed by playing with other human beings.

Siblings have a leg up in this regard, but both brothers and musicians are notorious for fighting, so successful bands that include brothers are not as numerous as one would think. If you missed it, there were two big fashion news items from the Presidential inauguration. One was Michelle Obama's much-raved-about outfits, created by lesser-known fashion designers who have just had their careers launched by the first lady. The second was Aretha Franklin's massive cold weather bow-hat.

Although I have mixed feelings on the hat there is no denying that Ms. Franklin still has a set of pipes that can stop anyone dead in their tracks. Her moving rendition of "My Country Tis Of Thee" got me thinking about another cover song that she's performed perfectly. Namely, her version of Otis Redding's "Respect".

For this playlist I ran a query on the word "zero" and had well over 6,000 songs returned. As I combed though them I thought it would be interesting to select the very best songs that use "zero" as an artistic device.  This playlist is the result.

As you will hear, it turned out to be an eclectic, but mysteriously great listen. Especially considering that the only thing holding these songs together is the fact that they use "0" prominently.

Our friends from the Great White North have a fine reputation for appreciating good music. There's currently a lot of great rock, indie music and even hip-hop coming out of Canada. And of course we're all aware of Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and Rush. The only bones I can think of to pick with Canada have to do with Nickelback and Bryan Adams.

As I was thinking about Canadian musicians I began to think about Canadian music fans. Are they really as tragically hip as they seem?

To find the truth I checked out the iTunes download chart for Canada. The following songs are currently the most downloaded by our neighbors to the North. 

As you can see from the songs below, Canada's musical tastes are almost in lock-step with the U.S. Unfortunately, that means almost universally bad.
