I'm a big fan of 70s and 80s punk rock. I got turned onto the music in high school, and it became a way of life for a period of time that I'm sure my parents would much rather forget. The music was aggressive and angry and spoke to the innate rebellious nature of the typical American teenager. But when I think back on all that great, hectic music, I remember some favorite bands that didn't always (and in some cases never) played fast. They played slower. Much slower. Punk rock slow enough that it might not annoy your parents as long as they didn't listen to the words. It was still cool, but didn't have the overly aggressive angst punk rock was known for. These memories inspired this playlist, which includes some of my favorite slow classic punk rock tracks. I know some of these bands fall into the pre-punk, or post-punk category, but they all had a great impact on the punk rock of a time period spanning from the late 70s through the 80s. So I took some liberty, but the result is a playlist that I REALLY love listening to. It's one I'll be revisiting as if it was cherished ROIR cassette hidden in the mess of my teenage bedroom, circa 1985.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I. What would you add?
