On This Date in History: July 1

I've been on a Revolutionary and Civil War kick lately. I think it started when I took my kids to Kings Mountain National Military Park. I now find myself planning future trips to other historic battle grounds. The National Park service really does a great job in preserving and teaching our history. I was poking around the Internet today for Battle of Gettysburg information when I came across the New York Times Education page "On This Day". It's an excellent resource that gives a timeline of history for whatever day you happen to be interested in. Today is July 1st, and the first item in the New York Times list was the start of the Battle of Gettysburg. This playlist includes the NYT list for July 1 and a song to go with each.
