Playlist: Eponymous Hat Tricks

There are a multitude of eponymous albums out there in the universe. That is, an album named after the band or artist who recorded it, or in other words, a self-titled album. Eponymous songs, on the other hand, are more rare. For this playlist I went further and included only eponymous hat tricks.  A "hat trick" is a sports term that comes from succeeding at something 3 times during the same game. So in music, an "eponymous hat trick" is a song that shares the same exact name with the artist who performs it, and the album on which it appears. I found 23 of these on Yahoo Music Unlimited, if you know of any others please let me know.

I must admit that this playlist may not be as listenable as it is interesting. It includes bands from all over the map. From Bad Company and Iron Maiden, to the Meat Puppets and Pennywise, to Train and New Kids On The Block. Not exactly a flowing playlist, but interesting nonetheless.

One of the more talented and respected artists in this list is the undisputed king of the eponymous song. The great Bo Diddley. Known for his "Bo Diddley beat", the man is a critical brick in the foundation of rock and roll. In addition to his famous musical style, he's also known for his ego. His slew of eponymous albums include two self-titled releases (1958 and 1962), as well as Go Bo Diddley, Bo Diddley in The Spotlight, Bo Diddley is a Gunslinger, Bo Diddley is a Lover, Bo Diddley's a Twister, Bo Diddley & Company, Bo Diddley's Beach Party, Surfin' With Bo Diddley, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. And I won't even delve into his eponymous songs here.
