Human beings have certainly given the pig a bad rap. Even though they are intelligent and social animals, the pig has a reputation for being dirty and gluttonous. In ancient Egypt the pig was considered an unworthy sacrifice for all but the moon. In Judaism and Islam, the pig is forbidden from being eaten. And when Jesus cast demons from two demon-possessed men, they cried to be sent into a herd of swine, Jesus gladly obliged. Having such a bad reputation written through the world's largest religions is bad enough, but when you add on the slew of diseases and parasites that can be transmitted by pigs, you've got a major public relations battle on your hands. Of course, when you call a person a "pig" it could mean they're a glutton, a pervert, sloppy, or a cop.
