CMJ stands for "College Music Journal", which used to publish a magazine and CD sampler for emerging new music called the CMJ New Music Monthly. Unfortunately, they stopped printing this publication back in 2008. But the CMJ still hosts an important new music festival in New York City each year called the CMJ Music Marathon, and produces a trade publication that includes playlists and charts for college radio, and non-commercial radio stations called the CMJ New Music Report. These charts are a great way to discover new music. The lists include music that is being played by what I still consider the best radio in the nation - college radio.
