The suit against the singer came in response to a $1.5 million federal lawsuit filed by Spears against Skechers USA Inc. in December.
"This countersuit is a ludicrous attempt to distract the court and the general public from the real issue: Skechers failed to meet their contractual financial obligations to Ms. Spears," said the singer's attorney, Michael Friedman. "They were unsuccessful in securing appropriate licensees to produce the line and completely abandoned their program to support this project."
The Skechers suit, asking for damages in excess of $10 million, claims that Spears breached her obligations to the company by delaying and failing to approve manufacturers, designs, and advertising for the Britney 4 Wheelers roller skates and apparel.
