(6/24/03, 3 p.m. ET) -- Kiss's Paul Stanley has joined band mate Gene Simmons in announcing plans for a solo project. The album will be Stanley's first solo release in 25 years and he hopes to have it ready for release next year.
While Simmons says he'll have guests such as John Mellencamp, Guns N' Roses leader Axl Rose, and Phish's Trey Anastasio for his album, Stanley's is less guest-heavy. His chief collaborator so far has been songwriter Andreas Carlsson, whose credits include Bon Jovi, Britney Spears, *NSYNC, the Backstreet Boys, Celine Dion, and LeAnn Rimes.
Stanley's first solo album, 1978's Paul Stanley, reached Number 40 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum. It featured the minor hit "Hold Me, Touch Me," which hit Number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Kiss Symphony: Alive IV, which was recorded with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in Australia earlier this year, comes out July 22 on CD. A DVD from the show will be released later this year.
Kiss kicks off a coheadlining tour with Aerosmith on August 2 in Hartford, Connecticut.
