(9/7/00, 4 p.m. ET) - DMX has been removed from the MTV Video Music Awards for the second straight year. The Yonkers, New York, rapper did not appear for dress rehearsals on Wednesday (September 6), causing the show's producers to decide to remove him from the event's lineup.

DMX's spokespeople did not return calls seeking a comment by press time.

Nelly will replace DMX at the awards. The St. Louis, Missouri, rapper was originally scheduled to be a pre-show opening act. Other rappers set to either perform or present at the awards include Eminem. The show airs on MTV tonight (September 7) at 8 p.m. ET.

In 1999, DMX also missed rehearsals for the MTV Video Music Awards.
