(8/14/00, 3 p.m. ET) - Tattoo The Earth, which featured such heavy-hitters as Slipknot and Slayer, wrapped up this weekend (August 13) in Phoenix, Arizona. Tour creator Scott Alderman calls the tour a success. He came up with the idea for Tattoo The Earth over a year and a half ago, and he tells LAUNCH it's more successful than he envisioned.

"We wanted to let people know this is what we're about," he says. "And we can only get better from here. The bands have been phenomenal on this tour. My role as the person who created it is to just sort of. . .The dialogue's between the bands and their fans and I'm like the moderator to make sure nobody gets out of line and all."

He adds that another major plus is that for a concert featuring some of the heaviest bands around, there were no deaths or serious injuries.

Financially, Tattoo The Earth is an investment. Alderman had a lot of expenses in the first year of the tour, but he says that it's here to stay, adding, "Bands are already talking about next year."
