Stevie Wonder, who'll be releasing his first new studio album in ten years called A Time 2 Love on May 3, has signed on to headline Tiger Jam VIII on May 21 in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino. The annual benefit concert is sponsored by Tiger Woods and raises more than $1 million annually for his Tiger Woods Foundation. This year, proceeds from the show will go to help fund The Tiger Woods Learning Center, which is scheduled to open later this year in Anaheim, California.
The 14-acre, 35,000-square-foot facility will include seven classrooms, a computer lab, a multimedia center and a 250-seat auditorium.
Woods issued a statement on Tuesday (March 8) saying: "Stevie Wonder is a music legend, and I'm thrilled he's headlining Tiger Jam VIII... He's very committed to social causes, which makes him a perfect fit to help raise awareness for the Tiger Woods Learning Center." Also appearing at the concert this year will be the Counting Crows.
Proceeds from previous concerts have supported a variety of charities, including the Boys & Girls Club of Las Vegas and the VH1 Save the Music Foundation.
Wonder performed the Beatles' "Across The Universe" with Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, U2's Bono and Brian Wilson during last month's Grammy telecast. Proceeds from the song's performance, which is available for download from iTunes, will benefit tsunami relief.
