Slipknot percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan has left the band's current Subliminal Verses tour to care for his ailing wife, according to Blabbermouth.net. The band performed on Tuesday night (March 15) in Lowell, Massachusetts without him. There's no official word yet on when Crahan will return to the road, although a source said that it could be as early as Friday (March 18) in Hampton, Virginia. Crahan was previously forced to miss the group's March 1 performance on NBC-TV's Late Night With Conan O'Brien due to the condition of his wife, who reportedly suffers from Crohn's disease.
Lead vocalist Corey Taylor says that Crahan knows the band must still do its job whether he's there or not. "He understands that, you know, we missed him, but at the same time, it's like, the show must go on, basically, you know. So we back each other, and we just try to be there for each other."
After tonight's show in Virginia, the Subliminal Verses tour hits Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday (March 19).
Slipknot's 2004 album, Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) will be reissued in a deluxe, two-CD set on April 12. The package will feature new artwork, while the bonus disc will include previously unreleased tracks "Don't Get Close" and "Scream," plus remixes and live versions of songs from Vol. 3 and the group's previous efforts.
Vol. 3 was certified platinum last month for sales of over one million copies.
