Avril Lavigne Stalker Sentenced To Jail

A 31-year-old Seattle computer technician has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for stalking 21-year-old Canadian singer Avril Lavigne. According to CelebritJustice.com, James Speedy originally pleaded not guilty in 2004, but ended up admitting to the stalking charges during a court appearance last week. Speedy also said his wife encouraged him to pursue Lavigne in an effort to help him get over his obsession.
Prosecutors said Speedy "relentlessly" went after Lavigne and had been arrested once before and ordered to stay away from her.
Lavigne was recently named one of the top stars under 25 by Teen People magazine.
She's currently on the road in South Africa and will do a European tour before returning for a North American leg that begins July 12 in her native Canada.
Lavigne will pay a visit to ABC's Good Morning America on August 26.
