Limp Bizkit is backing away from frontman Fred Durst's original plan of not promoting the band's new mini-album, the Unquestionable Truth (Part 1). According to a June 2nd posting by Durst on Limp Bizkit's website, the group will now release a single and video from the disc, although Durst is asking fans to help pick the song. While a performance video has been shot for a track called "The Truth," Durst wrote that the clip was made "for our core fans on the website only, so that one has been taken and must be kept sacred."
Fans can enter their suggestions for a single in the "Comments" section underneath Durst's posting, and the singer added that the band "will figure out which one was most chosen and decide from there." So far the leading track among fans is "The Priest."
Durst said early on that he wanted to avoid the standard marketing and promotional push that usually accompanies the release of a new album. He now seems to be reconsidering that policy.
The Unquestionable Truth (Part I) can only be described as a resounding disappointment since its May 3 release. The CD debuted at Number 24 on the Billboard Top 200, and has been quickly sliding down the chart ever since. It currently sits at Number 195, with just over 63,000 copies sold.
The band's last effort, 2003's Results May Vary, sold 325,000 copies during its first week of release and went on to move over a million.
