Sheryl Crow is no longer on the bill for the July 2nd Live 8 concert in Paris, part of the massive Bob Geldof-organized event to raise awareness of poverty in Africa. According to a post on her official Website (SherylCrow.com), she's not able to perform due to "substantial logistical and personal challenges."

Although Crow won't be able to attend the show, she is asking fans to support the cause. The Website message goes on to say, "Although Sheryl cannot be there personally she is supporting the outstanding cause to awaken the G8 leaders to the fact that they have the power to end extreme poverty by applying a workable plan to double aid, drop the debt and make the trade laws fair."

Crow will release a new studio album on September 27. The first single to be released from the as-yet-untitled CD is called "Good is Good."

A tour is currently in the works, as well as a new version of Crow's Artist's Choice CD, which will be available at Starbucks this fall.

In related news, Justin Timberlake has been added to the lineup of the Live 8 concert in Philadelphia. He'll be joining a lineup that already includes Destiny's Child, Jay-Z, Black Eyed Peas, Dave Matthews Band, Rob Thomas, Maroon 5, and Philly native Will Smith as host. The concert is one of eight simultaneous shows happening July 2 in London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Philadelphia, Tokyo, Johannesburg and Canada's Barrie, Ontario. The last three locations were announced on Friday (June 24).

On the movie front, Justin is in talks to star in the upcoming film Black Snake Moan. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Christina Ricci starring in the movie, and Samuel L. Jackson is in negotiations to play the lead role. Jackson would play the part of a blues guitarist abandoned by his wife, who tries to help a young sex addict played by Ricci. Timberlake would play Ricci's boyfriend in the film, which is set to begin shooting in Timberlake's hometown of Memphis in September.

Timberlake also stars as a young journalist in Edison, along with Kevin Spacey and Morgan Freeman, and plays a friend of a notorious drug dealer in Alpha Dog, which stars Sharon Stone and Lukas Haas. No release date has been announced for either film.
