Ashlee Simpson Survives Return Performance On Saturday Night Live

Almost a year after a technical glitch caused her to flee the show's stage in embarrassment, Ashlee Simpson returned to NBC's Saturday Night Live this weekend (October 8) and performed two songs from her upcoming album I Am Me without incident. Introducing her first song of the evening, Ashlee said, "I wrote this song after my last SNL experience" and began singing the ballad "Catch Me When I Fall." Ashlee returned later in the program to sing "Boyfriend," which is the first single off the new CD scheduled for release on October 18.
On last year's show, Ashlee's first song went fine, but when she came out to sing her second song, a pre-recorded track of her first song began playing on the show's audio system. Stunned by the mistake, Ashlee did a nervous little jig and then walked off the set with the cameras still running.
Ashlee didn't appear on any of the show's skits this year, but she did have a brief moment at the end of the show to reference last year's fiasco. As guest host Jon Heder thanked everybody and said good night, Ashlee grinned and did a few steps of her infamous jig.
I Am Me is Ashlee's sophomore CD, the follow up to her multi-platinum 2004 debut, Autobiography.
