Korn Parts With Touring Guitarist

Korn has parted ways with touring guitarist Rob Patterson, according to Korn Unleashed. A replacement guitarist who was not immediately identified has already been secured and is currently out with the band on its European tour. Patterson, originally a member of Otep, was hired as Korn's touring guitarist last summer after founding axeman Brian "Head" Welch left the group in early 2005. When Patterson became a solid choice, Korn guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer said: "He's a great guitar player and he was only the second guitar player that came in, and he got the job. Everyone dug him, the vibe, the band sounded tight the first rehearsal, so, you know, it worked out."

Although Patterson was initially supposed to remain offstage, he did appear onstage during Korn's recent North American tour.

Patterson has not commented on his exit from the group except to post a message reading, "Farewell, my brothers" at his MySpace page.

There has been no official statement from the group on Patterson's departure.

Korn's upcoming DVD, Live On The Other Side, will receive a big screen premiere on June 19 at more than 100 theatres in 70 markets nationwide. The DVD will be in stores on June 20.

Korn will headline the Family Values tour this summer, which begins on July 27 in Virginia Beach. The main stage lineup also features Deftones, Stone Sour, Flyleaf and Dir En Grey.
