Ashanti Tries Out Acting With Small Role

Ashanti has excelled as a singer and now she is adding "actress" to her resume...slowly.

Ashanti has a small part in the new film "Coach Carter." She said in an interview with AP Radio that since she was new to acting she wanted to start with something small. She wasn't sure if she could carry an entire movie and she wasn't even sure if she would like acting.

However, she said she could relate to the athletic parts of the movie because she was a student athlete in high school, and a very accomplished one at that. She played baseball, ran track and made the Wall of Fame at her school. She was even offered college scholarships and recruited by the Olympics.

Acting turned out to be a good experience. She said that everyone from the makeup artists to the other actors were all very welcoming and made her feel comfortable.
