Three of Latin music's biggest stars from three different genres Alejandro Fernandez, Chayanne and Marc Anthony are planning a 15-city U.S. tour, starting Aug. 17.
Anthony said he sees himself and the other two singers bringing different elements to the stage.
"It's a celebration of our music. It's about passion and our language, our music," said the salsa singer, who recently came out with the Spanish-language album "Amar sin Mentiras" ("To Love Without Lies").
"It's a way to fuse the three genres together in one night so the audience can sing, dance and have fun," said Chayanne, the Latin pop singer who's had eight No. 1 hits on the Billboard Latin Songs chart.
Fernandez called the tour "a fabulous idea," noting that it "never really been done in the U.S. with Latin American singers."
Better known as El Potrillo, Fernandez became famous singing traditional Mexican rancheras, and the theme songs for various telenovelas (Spanish-language soap operas). In 2004 he came out with a new album: "A Corazon Abierto" ("An Open Heart") and has successfully crossed over, from traditional Mexican ranchera to Latin pop.
The tour, announced Monday by Clear Channel Music, will kick off in Houston.
Gerry Barad, an executive with Clear Channel Music Group, which announced the tour Monday, said the three performers "are at the top of their game and we believe it will be one of the highlights of the summer."
