Although its been almost a year since the disastrous R. Kelly-Jay-Z Best Of Both Worlds tour, the two men are still squaring off in court--and Kelly just hit Jay-Z with another lawsuit. Allhiphop.com reports that Kelly is now suing Jay-Z for allegedly rewarding the man that pepper-sprayed him with a job at Def Jam Records.
Kelly's first lawsuit, which was filed last November, is seeking $75 million from Jay-Z for allegedly booting him off the Best Of Both Worlds tour following an incident during the duo's October 29, 2004, performance at Madison Square Garden in New York City. According to R. Kelly, during the performance, he noticed several men in the audience with guns and walked off the stage. After a security check, he attempted to return to the stage but was allegedly hit with pepper spray by one of Jay-Z's associates, Tyran "Ty-Ty" Smith.
Smith is currently awaiting trial in relation to the incident but has since been named an executive at Def Jam Records by the label's CEO, Jay-Z. According to Kelly's lawsuit, the fact that Smith was rewarded with a job is proof that he was working within the scope of his employment with Jay-Z when he allegedly pepper-sprayed Kelly.
Jay-Z's countersuit against Kelly was dismissed by a judge in May.
