U2 are to build a 35-floor skyscraper in Dublin, it has been claimed.
The band are understood to have approached the local council in their home city about the tower proposal, which includes a recording studio for the group.
According to reports, the building will be located at Britain Quay in the docklands area of the city, and will feature a viewing platform, with the band's studio on the top floor.
Local businessman Harry Crosbie commented: "I have spoken with [U2 manager] Paul McGuiness and the band, and we are pleased that these towers will create a new feature in Dublin's skyline."
Meanwhile, U2 have today announced details of the rescheduled leg of their Vertigo world tour. The Irish rock superstars were due to take their enormous live show to Australia and New Zealand earlier this year but cancelled all the dates. Citing illness to a close family member, the group took the rare step of pulling a string of concerts, which will now take place in November.
Speaking about the rescheduled concerts, which will feature support performances from Kanye West and Pearl Jam, U2's manager Paul McGuinness said: "It's going to be a great night in Hawaii. The band are really pleased Pearl Jam could join the bill, a great end to what has already been a very successful tour."
