Garth Brooks Puts Marital Troubles In The Spotlight

(1/20/00, 3 p.m. ET) - Garth Brooks appeared on Good Morning America this morning (Jan. 20) and discussed the current state of his career and marriage to his wife Sandy. The singer revealed that his relationship with his wife is "not in a good place" right now, and that he honestly isn't sure what their future holds together.

Brooks plans to make his relationship with his wife and three children a priority this year, and said he will try to repair the damage caused from life on the road.

When asked how the couple reached this crossroads, he said, "I think because we are honest with each other and you talk to each other. You talk about happiness. The big word in a relationship for me is respect, and do we have that for each other? If you don't, then you must try and find it. If you can't find it, then is your position better as friends? Finding that someone for [Sandy] that makes her feel like she really likes herself, and for me to find somebody that makes me feel like I really like myself."
