Amy Winehouse's Family Selling Late Singer's Home

Amy Winehouse's family has put the Northwest London home where the late singer was found dead last July up for sale for £2.7 million, or $4.2 million, the Associated Press reports.

Though a spokesman for the Winehouse family said Amy had loved the house, her family decided with "great regret" to sell, believing it would be inappropriate for any of them to live in the Camden property.

"It was not practical to keep it empty while paying the costs of its upkeep," said spokesman Chris Goodman in a statement. "It is a wonderful place and will be a happy family home for someone."

It was rumored, the Guardian points out, that the house might be converted into the headquarters for the Amy Winehouse Foundation (which launched its U.S. outreach in April), a charity that raises money to help young people in need. The singer's home has also become a shrine of sorts, with fans leaving flowers and mementos in tribute.

According to its listing on Housenetwork.co.uk, the three-bedroom home features private gardens in the front and back that overlook Camden Square. It also comes with upgrades like an integrated sound system and CCTV.

Graham Lock, a spokesman for Housentwork.co.uk, told the AP that the listing has generated "a lot of interest." He added, "There's a lot of fans getting in touch about it so we're trying to weed out the genuine interest from people who are just being nosy."
