Apple Music to Launch With iOS Update Tuesday Morning

Apple is set to launch its music subscription service this Tuesday. Users of the service will have access to a catalog of roughly 30 million songs, and also will be able to listen to Apple’s new Beats1 online radio station.

Here’s when and how Apple Music is going to be rolled out:

iPhone and iPad: Apple will roll out an update of its mobile operating system that will include the new Apple Music app Tuesday. Users can download and install the new update from their iOS settings (Settings App -> General -> Software Update). Apple hasn’t given an official timing for the software update; however, one of the leaders of the Apple Music team briefly advised users to check for an update at 8 a.m. PT, but has since removed that advice from a blog post. Beats1 is scheduled to go live at 9 a.m. PT.

Mac OS and Windows: Apple Music will be available to PC and Mac users via iTunes. Apple is set to launch an iTunes update on Tuesday as well, which users will be able to download from Apple’s website.

Android: Apple is going to bring its music service to Android as well via a dedicated Android app — the first full-fledged app the company has ever made for Google’s mobile operating system — but Apple Music for Android won’t be available until some time this fall.

Apple TV: Owners of Apple’s TV streaming box will have to be patient for a little longer as well. Apple Music is supposed to come to Apple TV later this year.
