Colbie Caillat and Gavin DeGraw Duet for 'Safe Haven' Movie

Colbie Caillat and Gavin DeGraw are friends and have been tour mates, and now the two are taking their talents to Hollywood. The pair have written and recorded "We Both Know" for the upcoming Lasse Hallstrom romance Safe Haven, starring Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough.

"It's about a relationship and having to take space from each other, but learning about yourself and the relationship," Caillat tells Rolling Stone of the song. "It's a beautiful ballad."

That's a word DeGraw echoes, calling it a "beautiful duet." The song goes to radio in a few weeks, and a video, filmed in Nashville, will follow.

The two were on tour together when they were approached about writing the song. This is Caillat's second foray into writing for a movie; the first was for 2010's Letters to Juliet. She used that experience to help guide her in writing for Safe Haven.

"You have to tap into what the movie's about. Usually they tell you where the song is in the movie and what they want you to write about, so you just kind of tap into that direction."

Fans of the pair who don't want to wait can check out their voices on "Baby, It's Cold Outside," on Caillat's current Christmas album. Both singer-songwriters say they should have more music together in the works.

"We were touring together, so we were already starting to write songs together," Caillat says.

"Colbie is a really gifted human being," says DeGraw, "and she's a beautiful person, so our voices happen to blend really well together. We make really nice music."
