Dawes Face Fears on 'From a Window Seat' – Song Premiere

After spending last summer on the road with Mumford & Sons, Dawes were getting anxious and restless. Constant touring behind their last album Nothing Is Wrong had exacerbated bandleader Taylor Goldsmith's fear of airplanes, but after taking a breath to gain perspective, he channeled his uneasiness into "From A Window Seat," a track rife with skittish drums and shady keyboard jabs.

"It was the first song I wrote for the new album," Goldsmith tells Rolling Stone. "My fear of planes got worse and worse the more we flew, but the idea of flying also got more abstract and absurd so I wrote a song about it."

"From a Window Seat" is on Dawes forthcoming album, Stories Don't End, which is due April 9th and available to pre-order here. "I know that some of what we do as a band is of another time, even simple aspects like guitar solos . . . we just wanted to make sure people saw us as a modern band as well," Goldsmith told Rolling Stone last month regarding the new album. "These are the same four guys that you've gotten to know very well on the first two records, but at the same time, this album feels like a growth."
