Hudson to honor Houston at Grammys

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jennifer Hudson will pay tribute to her idol, Whitney Houston, at Sunday's Grammy Awards.

Houston died Saturday at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The cause of death has not yet been determined.

Show Ken Ehrlich said that Hudson will be featured in a "musical tribute." He said it's too fresh to do more at this time, but they had to note the Grammy-winner's amazing accomplishments.

Prior to the news of Houston's death, Hudson attended a pre-Grammy event Saturday where she discussed the impact Houston had on her career.

Hudson talked about her love for Houston's hit "I Will Always Love You" and said that she would "create duets with her because I wanted to sing with Whitney Houston."

Houston actually presented Hudson with her first Grammy. Hudson said meeting her idol "almost overshadowed getting the Grammy."

@ AlfredaS....Bobby Brown will rot in hell for eternity!!!!! Everyone knows he ruined Whitney's life...she couldn't make ANY choices after getting hooked on the drugs he so freely supplied. WHY would you send love to the killer of Whitney???!!!

CeCe Winans, Faith Evans, Kelly Price, Mariah Carey, and Brandy should all tribute her. I think CeCe Winans has the closest Whitney sound. They all did great collaborations together.

I just hope when they pay tribute to Whitney they choose singers that match her ability. Please no awful BET tributes to Whitney! Or anything like they did with Michael Jackson, remember Mariah butchering "Ill be there? Ugh! She deserves better than that, she was a true Diva!

Ms. Hudson is a wonderful vocalist. Despite the tragedy of Ms. Houston's passing, at least real talent will be featured for a few minutes (among an arena filled with "artists" whose only claims to fame are being pretty faces that sing repetitive lyrics, and have their voices auto tuned beyond human speech).

I don't know about y'all, but I literally fell out of my chair (was hanging out sideways in a recliner) when I turned on CNN and saw the breaking news headline. Could not believe it...

I will miss you, Whitney. you are a huge part of my musical history. While I have always been a fan of rock and metal, your voice and your talent drew me like a moth to a flame. Your struggles are over now, so be at peace with our maker and know you are missed and loved.

Everyone in life makes mistakes - some can retrack/refocus & get by with the Grace of God and some can't help but be drawn back into them. She had a beautiful voice & talent and unfrotunately she, like so many, get seduced or dragged into drugs and can't find their way out completely. I know it is said that Bobby Brown led her down that path and God have mercy on him. I pray for him, as well, and their daughter, her mother Cissy & all who were family & friends. Being a mom to a drug -abuser, myself, it is very hard to see your loved one go down that path.. it's a heart-breaker. Prayers to all..
