Ja Rule gets advice on stocks, education in prison

NEW YORK (AP) — Rapper Ja Rule has been getting advice behind bars from two once high-powered men: ex-New York State Comptroller Alan Hevesi and ex-Tyco International CEO Dennis Kozlowski.

The rapper's real name is Jeffrey Atkins. He's serving two years for gun possession at Mid-State Correctional Facility in Oneida, N.Y.

He tells the Daily News (http://nydn.us/xsEQFE ) in an interview: "Outside, you don't meet guys like this every day."

The high school dropout says both men have urged him to pursue higher education.

The rapper says Kozlowski also advised him to buy airline stock and study business.

Ja Rule will be taking college-level courses later this month.

Hevesi was convicted in a pay for play corruption scheme. Kozlowski was convicted of fraud and larceny involving more than $100 million in bonuses.

LMFAO!!! Ja Rule getting a higher education? That's the funniest thing I've read yet this year. All the education this thug monkey will ever have, he's already aquired. He's where he belongs, in prison!!! Only place he's more deserving of is a deep hole!!!

While it may seem strange that these three men would have anything in common, in situations such as this it's not surprising that they would find a commond bond....... money. I hope Ja Rule picks their brain. They didn't get as far as they did because they weren't smart. Just made bad choices.

And the other way they share a common bond.......prison. I don't know about you, but I don't think I'll be taking money advice from two people who were sent up the river because they screwed up their money.....

Prisons tend to self-segregate by color (blacks stick with blacks, whites with whites, browns with browns). In this case, the greens have gotten together... obviously the color of $ trumps skin tone every time.

They're at a low level facility, no violent gangbangers or real criminals to deal with...

The best advice they gave him was to finish his education.

they had to take the clothes off from the "Prison Cabage Patch" to give him to Ja Rule... freaking wanabe gangsta... I hate that the media show him as a bad guy and is just a charachter invented by NY rap scene... he drops highschool by choice,,, his father was a freaking doctor or something... didn´t you watch 8 mile... yes he had a gun but maybe he didn´t even know how to use it... and well I guess is better because he is not a "bad guy", but come on, real bad guys doesn´t made it to Yahoo headlines... they sleep in a small cell among other 5 bad guys trying to survive in hell, not next to the most wanted gay stocker thiefs...

Airline stocks? I guess that is why he (Mr. TYCO), took the money, investments ain't his thing!
      • Sophia Hanson 3 months ago
Or maybe he does.... if the next President gets rid of TSA, airlines stocks are gonna shoot up. It wasn't really 9/11 that ruined the airline stocks, it is TSA, no one wants mandatory nude pictures, radiation, and sexual assault in order to get on a plane. IF they scrap TSA, you are gonna see the popularity of flying go way up again, the airlines themselves did a better job screening baggage & passengers than TSA has done (at the very least, they did no worse). And when airlines did their own security, we didn't pay taxes to pay for it AND tickets were cheaper.

You have good points, but unfortunately over the last 4 decades, for the most part, except for some trades, and Southwest for a while, airlines have been a terrible investment. Between the competition, labor unions, fuel expense, and poor management it just never pays off, except for the CEO's.

Yep, take advice from someone incarcerated for corruption and another for fraud/larceny! "Outside you don't meet guys like this everyday" he is quoted as saying. No #$%$ because they are in prison! Enjoy your stay, Ja Rule!

"The rapper's real name is Jeffrey Atkins. He's serving two years for gun possession at Mid-State Correctional Facility in Oneida, N.Y." - The funny thing about this is no one cares that he is in for gun possession. No one even cares that you can go to jail for possessing a firearm. No one cares that the 2nd amendment, which is now extremely eroded, was enacted to guarantee that you kept the other (original) nine.

Because you traded your liberty for what you, my fellow americans, though was security... you deserve neither. The politicians sold you on the idea that guns were for your protection from criminals and home defense and you didnt need the same guns they use. The 2nd amendment wasnt meant to protect you from your neighbor, it was meant to protect you from your govt.

Now they got all the guns and you got:TSA, patriot act, detention of citizens without due process, SOPA/PIPA, etc. Next stop : Re education camps.

Everyone makes mistakes and hopefully learn from them, so not one of you have gone through life without making a mistake.
