British soul singer James Hunter and his current band, the James Hunter Six, split the difference between Mad Men and Terry Gilliam's classic Monty Python animations in their new video for "One Way Love," from their recent album Minute by Minute. Co-directors Steven Erdman and Brian Caiazza paired the band's playful R&B-inspired single with imagery to match, with dizzying collages of vintage pin-ups in various states of undress. "The creative muse was Mad Men's Don Draper and what might have been his hallucinogenic dream had he been able to listen to the James Hunter Six," the directors said.
That's all fine by Hunter, who found something else to love about the clip. "The video is delightfully daft even though it makes more sense than the song itself," he said. "I was particularly struck by the shot of the gentleman licking the lady's bum, which is a feature sadly lacking in modern pop videos. And I liked the colours an' that."This article originally appeared on Rolling Stone: James Hunter Six Serenade Pin-Ups in 'One Way Love' – Premiere
