John Mayer to Play With Rolling Stones

John Mayer will share the stage with the the Rolling Stones tonight for the first of two "50 and Counting" shows at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, the band announced on their website. Mayer is the latest in a slew of special guests that have helped the Stones celebrate their 50th anniversary: For their London shows, they played with Eric Clapton and Florence Welch one night and Jeff Beck and Mary J. Blige the other, while Blige and Gary Clark Jr. joined the group for their recent show in Brooklyn.

A few days ago the band announced that the anniversary tour's final show – on December 15th, also at the Prudential Center – will feature cameos from Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga and the Black Keys. That show will also be broadcast live on pay-per-view as "One More Shot."

Although the Stones rarely play back-to-back dates, they made an exception last night when they stopped by Madison Square Garden for a 15-minute set at the "12-12-12" concert to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy.
