According to her lawyer, Katherine Jackson will file legal documents that would make her co-guardian of her son Michael Jackson's three children, USA Today reports.
Last week a Los Angeles judge revoked custody of Paris, Prince and Blanket Jackson from the family matriarch following a tumultuous period that included reports that Katherine had gone missing (she was resting with family at a spa in Arizona). In her place, the judge named T.J. Jackson, son of Michael's brother Tito, temporary guardian for the three children.
The proposal submitted by Katherine Jackson's lawyer, Perry Sanders Jr., looks to take some of the burden off the 82-year-old grandmother, with Sanders saying it would let her focus on raising the three children while not having to deal with financial or logistical issues. T.J. Jackson would remain a co-guardian as well; he would control the staff and day-to-day operations of the home Katherine shares with the children.
The papers are expected to be submitted to Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Beckloff, who will most likely call a hearing on the matter. It was Beckloff who suspended Katherine Jackson's guardianship, noting that while she'd done nothing wrong, third parties had made her unable to perform her duties. For the 10 days she was in Arizona, she remained out of contact with Paris, Prince and Blanket.
Following Judge Beckloff's decision, Katherine said in a prepared statement on ABC's Nightline: "My guardianship has been taken away from me, but I have spoken to my grandson T.J., and also I spoke to Prince and Paris last night, and told them I would be home today," said Katherine Jackson. "They're waiting for me to come."
