    Katie Holmes Rocks Sexy Mesh Dress at New York Observer Bash

    Single, sophisticated and sexy! Katie Holmes looked positively radiant when she hit up The New York Observer's 25th Anniversary Party at the Four Seasons Restaurant in Manhattan March 14. The 34-year-old actress turned heads wearing a black mesh Dolce & Gabbana dress, which she paired with matching heels and a leather belt.

    "I rely on my friends to inspire and lead me in the right direction and tell me when it's not working," Holmes told Us Weekly of her everyday looks. "I always love an A-line skirt and wide-legged pants. They're helpful!"

    Holmes, who bonded with filmmaker Spike Lee and talk show host Katie Couric at the bash, recently appeared in the play Dead Accounts, which ended its Broadway run Jan. 6. Since then, Tom Cruise's ex-wife has been keeping a low-profile with their 6-year-old daughter Suri in the Big Apple.

    "Katie seems really happy," her friend, director Adam Shankman, recently told Us of the star's single status. "You just fight through all the noise. And it's noisy!" The filmmaker added that Holmes' 50-year-old ex is "incredibly happy."
