Katy Perry closed out the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards with a performance of her current single "Roar," which will be on her upcoming Prism album. The pop star roared indeed, performing inside a makeshift boxing ring, where she showed off some fancy footwork and jabs while singing the song that has become her biggest hit to date.
Sweat-drenched dancers supported Perry in the ring while the crowd sang along to the new pop anthem. The single went head-to-head with Lady Gaga's "Applause" on the charts after both songs were leaked prior to their scheduled release dates.
Perry ended the performance in a champion's stance while holding up signs reading "Game Over."This article originally appeared on Rolling Stone: Katy Perry Gets in the Ring With 'Roar' at VMAs
