Prince Books Minneapolis Club for Auditions and 'Surprises'

Prince will play six last-minute shows at the Dakota Jazz Club in his hometown of Minneapolis this week, during which he's promised to provide plenty of surprises as well as hold auditions for a new drummer, Billboard reports.

100 Greatest Guitarists: Prince

The Purple One has divided the shows into three categories. There will be two "Soundcheck" shows on Wednesday, which will feature mostly improvisational music as well as the drummer auditions. Two jam session shows with an "after-party vibe" are set for Thursday. The two Friday shows are billed simply as "Surprise." Prince reportedly picked the Dakota over his own venue, Paisley Park, because the band Fun. had booked the space for rehearsals ahead of their upcoming tour.

Tickets went on sale yesterday and have already sold out, and the Dakota has warned that security will remove anyone caught with a phone or camera.
