'Gangnam Style' Dance-Off Erupts Into Gang Violence in Bangkok

Two Bangkok gangs began shooting at each other after an argument flared up between the two groups following a "Gangnam Style" dance competition, the Bangkok Post reports. According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Apichart Thongchandee, no one was injured in the gunfire.

Police say the two rival groups, who have been feuding for years, were partying and drinking at a local venue when the dance competition started. Members started busting out the "Gangnam Style" dance invented and popularized by K-pop sensation Psy, and as the competition continued tensions rose, until the groups started to quarrel and left the venue.

According to one of the teenagers who spoke to police, four members of one of the groups returned at six in the morning and started firing into the air. While they did leave, according to the witness, three returned at eight a.m. and started spraying bullets again in all directions.

"I thought the issue was settled, but the other group refused to end it, and they decided to fire at us while we were unprepared," said another teenager, who noted that the groups used the "Gangnam Style" moves to provoke each other.

"We now know who all the attackers are," said Thongchandee. "After questioning all the witnesses and inspecting the firearms, we will seek arrest warrants for them."
