The remains of Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera have been identified and turned over to her family, CNN reports. Rivera was one of seven people on a small plane that disappeared 10 minutes after taking off from Monterrey, Mexico on Sunday. Wreckage was found in a mountainous region and, using DNA samples from the remains, a medical examiner was able to identify the bodies of Rivera, her publicist and the plane's co-pilot.
The news unfortunately ends the Rivera family's hope that she survived the crash. "It's a 95 percent chance that she's dead, but we have that belief because we don't have a body," her brother Pedro Rivera Jr. said recently during a press conference outside Rivera's mother's house. "They found clothes. They found shoes, but they didn't find any DNA."

The Rivera family is currently making funeral arrangements, and employees at the funeral home in Monterrey said the singer will be cremated and placed in a red urn. The family also said there will probably be a memorial in Mexico before Rivera's ashes are taken to Los Angeles, her final resting place.
An accomplished singer, Rivera had recently made a foray into acting. Her debut film, Filly Brown – in which she plays the incarcerated mother of an up-and-coming hip-hop artist – will premiere in April as scheduled.
