The Strokes Unveil New Track 'One Way Trigger': Listen

This time, it's for real: the Strokes are officially back and have released a new track on their Soundcloud. "One Way Trigger" starts as a busy, synth-driven cut that features some unexpected falsetto from frontman Julian Casablancas. Then, as the song approaches the minute mark, the guitar jangles kick in and Casablancas briefly dips into his expected lower, sultry register. The band doesn't forget about their famous guitar sound, either, busting out an ax solo midway.

"One Way Trigger" is the band's first song off the long-awaited follow-up to 2011's Angles. Bassist Nikolai Fraiture told Rolling Stone in June 2011 that the band was already working on a follow-up, but the Strokes' management told Pitchfork last summer that they weren't working on the new record. Still, a Seattle radio station claimed they already had the album's first single, "All the Time," earlier this month, and now new music has officially emerged from the band themselves.
