The X Factor: Hear the Song Lyric 145 Wasn't Allowed to Perform

Lyric 145 was sent home from The X Factor during Divas Night two weeks ago, and frontwoman Lyric Da Queen implied afterwards that the group's elimination was due in large part to the fact that they weren't allowed to perform the song they originally had prepared. Now, viewers can judge for themselves whether that was the case.

The hip-hop trio has released via Twitter the previously-unheard track, which features original rap lyrics over a sample of Aretha Franklin's "R.E.S.P.E.C.T." Legal and technical issues prevented them from performing the song on Divas Night, and they were forced to change it at the last minute. "It arguably was going to be our best performance yet," Lyric Da Queen said after the show.

Instead, at the suggestion of their mentor Simon Cowell, they opted for a mashup of Queen's "We Will Rock You" and Katy Perry's "E.T." that was slammed by L.A. Reid, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato. Spears and Reid criticized the song choice because it forced the group to diverge from its hip-hop roots.

"We went along with his idea and it kind of backfired on us," Lyric Da Queen said.

Check out both songs below. Which do you think was better?
